Families and village communities have, to a large extent, been destroyed through decades of war.

The victims of the war are mainly children.
More than half of them live in Gulu District,  North-Uganda.

Most of the fleeing children or those who have left the army where they served are very ill, traumatised, suffer from infectious diseases and hunger.

They do not have homes and live in camps.

The provision of primary health care is not guaranteed.

The chances of education and training is limited.
